Where are Charlie & Me jackets made? Each piece is made in Boulder, Colorado.

How do I buy one of your jackets? Jackets are made throughout the year and then released online at a certain date and time. Each jacket is different in it’s color/ shades/ style and size so because of this each jacket is listed individually and numbered so you have the ability to pick and choose the exact jacket you like and know exactly what you are getting. Some Cutch jackets have a more pink shade, others a deeper red, similarly some Indigo jackets have more darker shades than others. Jackets are also available for pre-order in a limited quantity throughout the year. Pre-sale terms and conditions are available here.

What are your jackets made from? Each jacket is made with a combination of fabrics. The outer of the jackets are made with 100% linen, predominately sourced from Europe. Upon arrival the linen is scoured, soaked in mordant, then dyed in either a Cutch or Indigo dye bath. The dyed linen in then washed and dried to remove any excess color. The patch-worked linen is then quilted onto pure wool batting made in the USA. Finally each jacket is lined with Organic Cotton Sherpa made in the USA and free of PFOS, PFOA, lead, dioxins, heavy metals & BPA; Free from phthalates: contains no DEHP, DBP, BBP, DINP, DIDP and DnOP.

What is Cutch? Cutch which comes from a small thorny tree of the Leguminosae family is native to Asia. The trees are grown in plantations and are cut when they are thirty years old. The bark is removed and then the heartwood is made into wood chips. The dye is extracted by boiling the wood chips in water until the liquid becomes very thick. It is then poured onto mats where the cutch extract hardens as it cools down and can be broken into chunks.

What is Indigo? Indigo refers both to the blue pigment used as a dye and to indigo plants of the genus Indigofera. Indigo dye has been used for thousands of years by civilizations all over the world to dye fabric blue. It has been the most famous and most widely used natural dye throughout history and is still extremely popular today as evidenced by the familiar color of blue jeans.

How do I care for my jacket? Your jacket is totally machine washable! I recommend washing your jacket with ph neutral detergent on the wool/ delicate setting on your machine, ideally on a cold water setting, then line dry out of direct sunlight. Once dry, use a hot iron to remove any creases, or don’t, which ever you prefer.

Do you offer wholesale? Not at this time.

Do you do custom orders/ fittings? Occasionally I love to work with customers to create custom jackets. Please feel free to contact me to chat more about this option.

What is Love Justice? Love Justice is a NGO that works at identifying and stopping human trafficking as it is occurring, BEFORE beautiful lives are exploited and sold into slavery. A portion of each sale goes to support Love Justice and their work.

Will my jacket shrink when I wash it? All fabrics are pre-washed, dried and ironed before being sewn up so no shrinkage should occur. Due to the nature of linen, when worn it will soften over time.
